WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK: Consultation on National Clinical Guideline Nutrition Screening and use of oral nutrition support for adults in the acute care setting

We would like to hear your views on the proposed guideline and how we can ensure the objectives of the guideline are achieved. 

The guideline will apply to adults admitted to all Acute Hospitals. 

The overall objective of the proposed guideline is to:

  • improve inpatient care through the prevention and effective treatment of malnutrition.
  • covers the early identification of malnutrition risk using nutrition screening
  • the provision of timely and appropriate oral nutrition support to patients who are malnourished or at risk of malnutrition.

We know this consultation will be of interest to all frontline and management staff involved in the provision of care to adult patients in the acute care setting.

The closing date for this consultation and receipt of feedback is 30th March 2019. 

The proposed guideline and related feedback will be reviewed by the Guideline Development Group following this consultation process, before the final draft guideline is submitted to the National Clinical Effectiveness Committee (NCEC) for quality assurance and to the Department of Health for approval.
